Country Road Store Concept
National Australia Bank Heritage Building
Brisbane, Australia
1100m2
For this brief, I was to develop a fresh perspective on an existing brand ethos that was to be reflected through a new, conceptual store design. Using knowledge gained from design research into the brand, I developed a concept of Australian and Traditional, inspired by the heritage of the brand, the local landscape and its colour palette, along with the building where the store was located. Given the merchandise range of the brand and the size of the store, developing a concept that would fill the space and have relevance to the different departments was challenging. To overcome this, I developed different variations of the concept to suit each space.

The space was to be tactile with raw elements throughout. Organic shaped display units that are inspired by nature, are juxtaposed by antique looking wall cabinetry that pays homage to the site.
MOOD
Upon entering, customers would feel as if the store was an extension of their own home. It would be cosy yet grand and luxurious.

To develop a strong concept, I needed to understand who the brand was and what they stood for. A strong ethos of the Australian lifestyle came through with a focus on living your best life surrounded by family and friends. The brand was passionate about its history, and celebrated the country in which it was founded.

CUSTOM
A custom display zone was designed to mimic an elegant walk in robe. Shelving and pull out drawers will encourage users to interact with the product with feature lighting creating visual impact. The arched details and wall paneling touch on the buildings heritage construction whilst the organic display surfaces play to rock formations of the Australian landscape.
